The Ozeri Gen II Digital MultiFunction Bathroom Scale features the latest generation of InstaOn sensor technology to display and monitor your body weight, fat and water ratios, all within seconds of stepping onto the scale. This Triple Function Bathroom Scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), incorporating a person's age, height, gender and weight to accurately display results in increments of 0.2 pounds or 0.1 kilograms. Bioelectrical Impedance (BI) is a well established and respected method used to estimate body fat and hydration. Muscles, blood vessels and bones are body tissues with a relative high water content which conducts electricity easily. Body fat is tissue that on the other hand displays much less electric conductivity. With BIA, the Ozeri Scale sends a weak and harmless electrical current through your body to determine the amount of fat tissue. This weak electrical current is imperceptible to the user, and returns back data that is used together with the user provided weight, height, age and gender to instantly calculate body fat and body water ratios. The Ozeri Gen II Digital MultiFunction Bathroom Scale displays results on an easy to read bright 3.5” diagonal LCD screen. It also features built-in memory that can store up to 10 personal profiles each with individual measurements and monitoring so that your family members or friends at the gym can each track their progress. This Ozeri scale uses 4 latest generation G sensors to capture weights up to 440 lbs with industry leading accuracy. Great Price Great Product

I have owned this scale now for two weeks. It is a great buy. This review will cover customer service, price, appearance, and performance. Overall, I rate this with 5 stars. The scale works great and I would recommend it for the price and the features along with the appearance - for under $40 you cannot go wrong.Customer Service: Outstanding delivery shipped fast to APO in Iraq - scale was packaged and well protected and about 10 days earlier than projected. That is awesome and the shipping was free (supersaver).Price: Very reasonable for the features.Appearance and functionality: Clean and will look nice in any bathroom (I plan on shipping it home after deployment). Clear glass and two nice stainless steel areas to step on. Even a large person should not have a problem with this scale - plenty of room for your feet.Performance of the features:1. Manual & Set-up: Pretty basic and easy to follow. The setup is simple and took only a minute. Also, a nice feature of the manual shows age and percentile norms as a handy quick reference guide to see where you land within your age and gender group. The manual is also made of a coated and durable paper material so it should last. The directions are simple and the scale is very easy to operate.2. Regular Mode: All you need to do is gently tap on the scale and WAIT for the ZEROs to appear. Do not get on the scale while the dashes are showing, wait until the ZEROES appear; otherwise, you will not get an accurate reading. The scale is calibrated and accurate and is within 1/2 lb of a certifed and calibrated scale in our gym; so, I find it to be reliable.3. Advanced Weight/Body-fat%/Hydration Mode:A. I noticed prior to purchasing that several people commnented that in this mode the weight is a pound or two lighter than in the regular weigh in mode. I had the same experience; however, it only happened when I stepped on it in this mode with the dashes showing prior to the (0/0) display. That is operator error and does not reflect on the scale.B. For the initial settings in this mode you will press the center button and then enter your gender, height and age, while the left and right buttons move each category up or down to reflect gender, height and age. After you press the the center button the gender, height and age button the weight will appear with several dashes on the display for a short time perod. PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST WAIT FOR THE SCALE TO SHOW ZEROES (0.0). IF YOU STEP ON THE SCALE WITH THE DASHES IN THIS MODE YOU WILL GET A FALSE READ OF 1-2 LBS LIGHTER. SOMETIMES THE SCALE WILL NOT GO TO ZERO (0.0) AND YOU MUST GO THROUGH THE PROCESS AGAIN OF PRESSING THE BUTTONS FOR YOUR DATATO ENSURE IT IS SETUP CORRECTLY.C. Once you have your settings you can register up to ten people on the same scale. My roommate and I both have our data in the scale and it holds it. After the intiial setting all you need to do is gently press on the scale with your foot and wait for your number to display, and once you see the (0.0) it is ready for you to weigh in.D. Body fat %: This is a consistent feature from the electric pulse sent through the body (of course, follow the directions and make sure you are barefoot on the scale). Some reviewers find that annoying - I disagree since the electic pulse (which you cannot feel) will not work without contact to the skin. This % consistently resembles the BMI formula I use. I am sure there is a deviation here (maybe 1-5%) but as long as it shows trends upward or downward I am pleased. The scale suits my purpose - tracking my trends over time.E. Hydration %: I find this convenient after a workout to make sure I rehydrate - you can use the manual to see what the norm is for your age and gender.Conclusion: The scale works great and I would highly recommend it for the price and the features along with the appearance - for under $40 you cannot go wrong. If you are in need of scale to track your weight and body fat % changes then this scale will meet your expectations. I would also recommend the myotape tape measure and measure your waist and hips to track your health. Good luck with all your health and fitness and goals!

Drains batteries - self activates?

I normally don't write reviews, especially negative ones, however since my experience was so bad with this, I felt compelled to, in order to help someone else and save them the money and headache. I reviewed several bathroom scales and decided on this due to the good reviews.It seems to be accurate with weight, however after two days the batteries were dead. So I bought a new set, thinking perhaps the ones that came with it were old.Scale worked, but i did notice it never seemed to shut off. Other digital scales I have used required a "tap" to turn them on but this one seemed to turn on by itself, even with nothing on it. After two more days the batteries were dead again.I would return it except I have already put the packaging out with the recycling...I never dreamed i'd need to return it, a lesson learned on my part.So if you do purchase this scale, I would recommend removing the batteries after each use...UPDATE:I emailed the manufacturer and they were able to retrieve my order information since I told them I purchased this from Amazon. They are sending me a new scale, so A++ for customer service. I will update again when the new scale arrives, but leaving this review so others are aware in case they run into the same problem.

Nice Scale, Nice Features, Nice Value

I've been using this scale for over a month and am very pleased with it. First, the design: it is very sturdy and looks nice, in my opinion, and would probably complement most bathroom floors. I don't have a problem reading the display with 20/200 vision (okay maybe a little squinting involved). As far as accuracy, it seems very consistent for me but I haven't checked its precision to the pound. I will say that my old scale showed a five pound difference and after a visit to the doctor's scale, this new one jived much better. Now the features: it is very helpful to have one stop shopping for body fat% and water%. It calculates this very quickly and also seems consistent from day to day (I normally use the scale first thing in the morning). Setting up users (up to 10) is simple and quick, after a quick glance at the instructions. Selecting the user is also easy, but takes a few times to get the hang. You first step on the scale with one foot so you can quickly remove it after your user number pops up. At first, I didn't take my foot off quickly enough and it would scroll through all the user numbers (even if none of the others were set up). But you soon get used to the procedure and won't have any problems. Overall this is a great value and I highly recommend this scale. I'd still consider it at twice the price. I'm happy with the purchase ... now I just need to lose more weight!

Quality & Accurate

Scale is well-made and high quality. It is very accurate and agrees very well with the much more expensive scale at my gym. It weighs from 10 lbs to 330 lbs (or equivalent in kgs/stones), and needs at least 10 lbs to turn on and begin registering and showing the weight. It has a unit button on the bottom to switch from lbs->kgs->stones. It also has a 5-year manufacturer's warranty.It uses a CR2032 lithium battery which according to the manual has a long life with this scale and may only eventually need to be replaced if used in a heavy usage area such as a health club. It measures in 0.2 lb increments (or the equivalent in kgs/stones). The battery compartment uses a standard battery latch cover which is screwed in place by two small screws which means you need a small screw driver to initially set up the scale or to eventually replace the battery if it does eventually happen.Basically, you stand on the scale it turns on with a weight close to your actual weight and fluctuates momentarily as it stabilizes to your weight and if you stay on it will flash and lock onto this weight. Otherwise if you step off before this, it goes back to 0.0. It turns off by itself after 5 to 10 seconds depending on how long you stay on it. It doesn't have any extra features (such as BMI, etc.) beyond measuring your weight in either lbs, kgs, or stones.

Taylor DIgital Glass Scale

Once I managed to extricate the plastic from the battery case--which resulted in a broken fingernail--it worked fine. However, the instructions that came with the scale are misleading: you can't open the battery case by pushing against the plastic tab (which when I did a little piece of it came off). You need to unscrew the screws that are holding it in place (thanks to Nathan Z's review for that information). It would have been nice if a small screwdriver that could open the case came with the scale as it's extremely difficult to extricate the protective plastic without opening the battery case.The scale itself is lovely: lightweight, accurate, and easy to read. However, because of the problems I had with it initially I was tempted to return it--until I read Nathan Z's review and then managed on my own to extricate the plastic from the battery case without opening it.

So far so good

I bought another Tanita from Amazon a few years ago but it started to go bad within I would like to say 2-years tops. I searched high and low and found that Tanita is still a highly respected brand when it comes to scales. I was browsing the Tanita website and saw that they were going to release this scale in December of 2011 (this was back in Sept/Oct of 2011) and decided I'd wait to purchase it.My concern about it being made out of glass is that what will happen if it experiences something dropping on it or it being moved and dropped on accident? So far I have not had any problems with the glass or it being scratched or damaged. I do not keep this in the bathroom rather my living room.The scale varies my weight each time I step onto the scale, usually within 1-3 pounds. It is never consistent. However, I still feel that being 1-3 pounds off is within reason.You can program it for two people, so for yourself and your partner or yourself and your child or yourself and whoever. I guess the water percentage and the body fat percentage seems to be accurate.My old Tanita had a button to press for just weighing yourself and upon first use I could not seem to figure out what button it was. I finally figured it out, it is the last button in the vertical buttons. If you hit that button, you'll see the scale come on, wait until you see the 0.00 come on and then step onto the scale. This is very helpful for people who just want to see what they weigh and for guests who might use the scale.

nothing fancy

a very nice scale....calculates body fat/water % and easy to read. all true but so do many other scales. I've bought it just for the looks of it even tough it was more expensive than others I'd looked at. overall, it's a good scale but not really sure if it's worth $100!?

Purchased this product after joining Weight Watchers and wanted a quality scale. THIS IS THE ANSWER. Incredible value for an incredible product. I'm the #1, husband is #2, and I hear him every morning using this scale. He's never done that and the fact that you get your % of body fat and water...AWESOME. This scale rated HIGHER that any of the Weight Watcher scales and has been totally accurate, .2 difference every week of my weigh-in weight with Weight Watchers, for the last 5 weeks. Considering the Weight Watcher scale in stores is a commercial, thousand plus dollar scale and this has been the same .2 difference every week, I trust this scale more than theirs! You won't be sorry if you purchase this product. QUALITY QUALITY QUALITY!!!!

scale doesn't last, warranty too complicated to use - don't buy!

This scale lasted just 5 months, and it was used only by me, every other day. While it worked, it was great. Then one day it stopped. We changed batteries,still didn't work. Amazon offers a two-month warranty during which the scale could have been returned. I contacted the mftr and they said they would repair the scale if I mailed it their facility in Arizona. This would, I found out, cost a little over $10 each way. Since I paid $36.50 in the first place, this would make no sense. I see other buyers have had the same experience. The scale simply stops working for no apparent reason. An irresponsible manufacturer. Amazon should dumpthem. GCrocker, Berkeley, CA

I purchased this scale about six weeks ago. ALREADY broken! I have replaced the batteries and still nothing. I paid about 50 bucks for this and am so mad. While the seller was prompt I think they should reconsider their selling of this scale. UGH!!!

Great Scale with Bonsuses

As a scale the Omron HBF-500 is excellent. It is consistent, in tests with my wife and I (who are more than 100 pounds different in weight) the scale gave the same weight each of 5 times in a row that we stepped on it. So it is consistent. I am a nurse and weighed myself on our calibrated scales and found that this scale weighed me 0.5 pounds heavier than the hospital one, which can be explained by the glass of water I drank when I got home. So it is both consistent and accurate.So what about the body fat monitor: As to the accuracy of the monitor I cannot speak. However, it is very consistent, much more consistent than the experience that I have had with the handheld-only monitors from Omron. The scale will calculate your percent body fat & your percent skeletal muscle. It will also give you a reading of your visceral body fat, which is a better indicator of your health risk associated with body fat (visceral body fat is the fat which is inside your body surrounding your organs, which subcutaneous fat is the fat that we all see just under our skin). Using these calculations and the user-defined height, weight, and age data that you enter, it will give you your resting metabolic energy needs for the day to give you an idea of how much you should be eating to lose weight in a healthy manner.The scale has 4 user profiles so that 4 different users can use the scale and track their data. Data can be recalled letting you know what your measurements were yesterday, a week ago, a month ago, and 3 months ago.The handle fits well inside the front of the scale. I was expecting the scale to be bulkier than it is. It is just a little taller than a normal scale and very attractive. It isn't something that you're going to need to hide between uses. Just put it where any normal bathroom scale would fit.The scale is a little bit difficult to use if you haven't read the instruction manual. The good news is that the manual is very easy to use and very informative. Plan on 5-10 minutes of reading time when your scale first arrives. You will be glad that you learned all about what your new scale does. After skimming the manual, my wife and I are both able to operate the scale and use all of its functionality.Price-wise, this seems like an excellent value. The cost of a high-quality scale added to the price of a decent Body-fat monitor (which won't give you the more detailed body composition detail of this hands-and-feet monitor) will be more than the price of this one unit. Also, this unit keeps all of your data in one location. So for the price, this unit was a no-brainer for me when it was time to buy a new scale after my old one stopped being consistent and accurate.Highly recommended.

Usefull Tool

I don't do reviews often, but this product (and/or a similar model) have taken some knocks that my experience contradicts.First off, I think expectations need to be realistic if you are going to buy any kind of scale or monitor.1) Weight: No two scales read the same. They may be darn close, but rarely the same. What should be expected is that the scale always reads the same weight over time. I have a dumbbell that says it's 10 lbs and I have seen three scales say it's anywhere from 9.5 to 10.3 lbs. So you can demand consistency, but realistically for most of us absolute accuracy is just not practical.2) Body Fat or Composition: Unless you can find (and pay for) a DEXA (Dual Energy X-Ray) or Hydrostatic (full immersion weighing) test this number is totally subjective. A while back I had two physical therapist/trainers that work in a medical rehab/training facility check my composition using the calipers method ten minutes apart. The results were 29% and 34%. They were not surprised, said they were usually within 2%-3% of each other.I don't want it to sound like I am lowering the bar here, just trying to be realistic.So, what about the Omron HBF-500?As for weight, my HBF-500 has said from day one that my "10lb" dumbbell is 9.6 lbs (it's mate is always 9.7). Who's right, Omron or Weider? No idea. So who cares if the scale is off by 4% or if that dumbbell is really 4% lighter than advertised? The fact is that is is consistent, and if it says that on the day I got it I weighed 296 and I now weight 275, it is that 26lb difference that is important.Same thing for composition. I feel it is the change over time that is important, not the absolute accuracy. What I have found is that I have to be consistent in using the device. Lay off the H2O for a day and the number changes, hop on the scale after a hot shower, the number changes. Same for after a meal or exercise. I have has the best results using it once a week, at the same time of the day (for me, first thing in the morning on Mondays) before I eat and shower.Functions/Usability:1) Read the manual. It's not great, but after I used the thing two or three times it became simpler.2) The memory/user functions are nice, but to be honest I think the biggest advantage of the user function is that I do not have to re-enter my age, sex, etc.. each time. Use the enclosed for or write down the results, I'm a geek so trust me when I say it's just simpler than the memory functions.Overall I think it is a great tool for measuring changes, if not absolute numbers. And if you think about it, the changes are what matters, either as a warning that you are making progress in a direction you do not want to go, or as a reinforcement that you are doing things right and seeing results.If accuracy is a big deal for you, pay for the professional tests, use the device at home and note the difference. The apply that correction to the measurements you get at home. For me, the $400 -$600 cost of the tests for one shot vs. the cost of the HBF-500 to use whenever I like answered the absolute accuracy question.

Great scale at this price!

I order all kinds of items online and have done so for years. But when it comes to some items, I usually prefer to see it firsthand before ordering. I couldn't do that with this scale, but it turned out better than I'd hoped!The picture doesn't really show you how well this scale is made. Although the top is primarily plastic, there is so little flex that you'd think the whole thing is metal. The display is high contrast and the digits and icons large making it easy to read even at my height of 6'1". My favorite part of the construction is that the feet "float" slightly allowing the scale to adapt to surfaces that may be a little uneven. That's always been a problem for me on vinyl, tile, or hardwood floors where slight variations occur. Also, the power button on the front (as you walk up to it) toggles the unit on and off. Nice for saving battery life instead of having to rely on an Auto-Off feature (which it will do after 10 minutes of inactivity). The manual states that you'll get about 12 months on one set of batteries (4 x AA) taking four readings a day.Having memories for 4 people as well as a "guest" reading is great, too. The unit keeps only the last reading, but if you're tracking that information and don't have time to jot it down at a weigh-in, you can always come back later, turn it on, and pull up your profile's most recent data.The BMI and body fat percentage readouts are simple to understand and a bar graph accompanies the BMI to give you at-a-glance feedback where you're at generally, i.e., Under, Normal, Over, etc. on your BMI. This is based on your providing your gender, height (in 1/4 inch increments) and age.The manual is well written and in English only. It gives a good overview of how the BMI is calculated and what Omron did to come up with the table references that it uses internally to generate that value.Overall, I am extremely pleased with this scale and highly recommend it for anyone who wants an accurate, repeatable (same readings with little to no variation when taken one after the other) and informative digital scale.

BIA Technology: Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) is the most accurate methods of screening fitness index by inputting height, weight, age and gender. The scale sends an extremely weak electrical current (Perfectly safe for body and you won't feel it) to determine your fitness results.

It works, but unfinished

I wouldn't be writing this unless I liked the product and was hoping the software could be improved.The Good:It works. It does what it should.The "Bad":- Buttons are a bit flimsy and can get stuck "on" if not pressed directly.- User setup/data entry (weighing) are a bit confusing.- The LCD can't be read well unless looking directly at it.- Manual isn't complete and needs editing.- Software MSCOMCTL.OCX does not get registered properly on Windows8. To fix, open a command prompt as the Administrator user and type:c:\windows\system32\regsvr32.exe "c:\program files (x86)\BalanceFrom Health\MSCOMCTL.OCX"- Software exports .txt data as cm/KG regardless of your UI setting.- Software exports .mdb as a password protected database. What's the password???- BalanceFrom.com listed on the product manual is a blank blog.

Nice Scale

1. Big display with backlit. It's so easy to read my weight and fitness results every time compare to my previous one.2. The metal (I guess these are what they called "plate") is big. I know it's important for the metal to touch my skin in order to get a accurate reading.3. It's accurate. I own a professional scale for many years (The professional one just looks in old fathion). I compare them and they give me same reading every time.4. For fitness results, including BMI, water, bone, etc., it's a little big different (5% difference) than my most recent anual medical check at my local hospital. Good enough!5. This scale is beautiful!! Large black platform with two silver metal plates and 3 GIANT silver keys. Great design!6. The product was packed so well in the pretty box. Would be a perfect gift idea.7. The software is cool too. I can track my history & record on my computer now.8. One thing not ideal: The software does NOT work on my Mac which is mentioned in product description.Overall, a 5-star scale. Thank you.

Revised -"Don't waste your money" - I now recommend!

***Update-My original review (see below) was done when I had a scale that was not working properly. This company reached out to me to make things right and now I have a scale that works perfectly fine. I would recommend this scale to anyone and if you have a problem, this company will make things right. At least that is what happened with me.*(Original review)Scale does not work as it should. It keeps giving program errors and does not save information inputted in it. This is also hard to return without spending money on return shipping...so I am going to save the hassel and tell people not to purchase this item.
