Great function and design when it works

This scale has a wide range of functions including bioelectrical impedance measurements of weight, body fat %, hydration %, muscle %, bone mass, basal and active metabolic rate in Kcal. The design is modern and sleek and is a handsome addition to any home. The main problem is my unit started giving error messages after 1 year use. I contacted Beurer and their solution was to return it to the store I bought it from. Beurer's policy is they will allow you to exchange that model for a newer model free of charge, which is quite convenient, and helps avoid dealing with packing, shipping and Return Authorization #'s.

A Friend for Life

How can scales help you lose weight? The Beurer BF 66 achieves that and more by providing instant gratification and by becoming a friend whom you won't want to disappoint. You'll become a more discriminating eater and your friend will reinforce your altered behavior. I unpacked it 25 days ago and I'm down 10 lbs (notwithstanding a little backsliding at Little Italy last week).

First one creaks and does not return to zero, plus bad packaging. New one works great!

Scale was not properly packaged by seller. The scale was only sent in its original packing, which appeared to be quite old or weakened by moisture, and was not in a secondary shipping box. The original packaging box was flimsy and clearly damaged when it arrived (caved in/collapsed in areas). There was lots of tape holding the box together which provided some integrity to the structure but this made the box hard to open. Internal padding and part of the box disintegrated upon opening. The face of the dial was dislodged in shipping and i had to clean it and reattach it (snaps in place). Scale creaks when I step on it which makes me wonder if it was damaged in transit. I zeroed the scale prior to standing on scale and read my weight. When stood off scale it did not return to zero. I did this multiple times without the gauge returning to zero and was sometimes high and sometimes low. The fluctuation in my wight was 5 lbs. Found that pressing the scale surface up and down with my hand helped the gauge return closer to zero and gave a more consistent weight each time, but I do not have confidence that this scale is giving an accurate weight, which is not what I paid good money for. Further, this scale was previously returned on February 17th for not being accurate and then was resold to me as if it was BRAND NEW without any indication that it had previously been returned! I am contacting the seller to deal with this issue.**UPDATE**Seller mailed me a BRAND NEW SCALE and the packaging was undamaged, scale undamaged, etc. Scale works perfectly. The weight is both accurate AND precise. Same weight no matter how often you get on and off. Always returns to zero with only needing slight adjustment. Very pleased to have a functioning scale after my previous ordeal = )

Very nice scale.

Very nice scale. Appears to be well made and is good looking. Once set to zero it rarely has to be re-adjusted like those cheap scales that read differently every time you get on them. The numbers might be a bit on the small side, but maybe that's because I'm a bit on the old side. Too bad it does not have a way for you to mark the bezel with a starting weight and goal. Overall, this is a nice quality product and well worth the few extra dollars.

Weighing in...

I have an extremely similar scale to this from the same manufacturer(mine has green display, and the middle part extends to the bottom of the scale. Still has the same 3 buttons. This scale is both accurate and consistent. Yeah, you can fool it once in a while if you weigh yourself and then within 10 seconds weigh yourself with a 3.5 oz weight. I put a 20 pound weight on it and it read 20.2 lb. The .2 doesn't bother me - to be honest it is probably the cheap weight I have. If I weigh myself and then drink 5 oz of water and weigh myself again after a minute has passed, it fairly accurately reflects the difference. You have to remember it's rounding to .2 pound increments. So it's entirely possible that if you eat one pound of food, the weight may seem to go up as little as .8 lbs and as high as 1.2 (at it's least accurate, when it has to round way down on one end and way up on the other). Over the long haul, I believe it really is accurate to the .2 lbs.The progress tracker is actually quite simple- it is the instructions that are bad. You just hit the "set" button, use the up and down arrows to select which person (1-4) you want to do, then hold in the set button until the "0.0" pounds displays. Weigh yourself. The first time you do it, it sets the weight. Do the same thing if you want the progress info - hit set, pick the person number with up and down arrows, and hold set until the scale shows 0.0 lbs, weigh yourself. It will tell you what you weighed last time, how much you lost, etc. while you stand on it.This is a good scale. I've had bad ones that float 1 lb in either direction while claiming to be accurate to .2 lbs - this is not one of them. It feels sturdy, the foot pads are more comfortable than solid plastic, and the display really is cool looking. Also, if it's like the model I got, it takes regular old AAA batteries, which should be included in the box.

The scale is great but the instructions are worthless

I agree with the other reviewers who haven't yet figured out how the "weight loss" window works. I keep a log nearby to track my daily diet so it's of little consequence, but the instructions tell how to "initialize" the scale but not how to use it day to day. That said, the scale is excellent, repeatable, and well made. The digits flash and freeze when it determines your weight, not like my old weight watchers scale that kept rolling and went blank when you stepped off before you could read your weight. The digits are bright blue and hold for 5 seconds after you step off. Were it not for the hazy instructions, I would have given this 5 stars.

An accurate. nice looking scale.

This scale looks good and has a quality fit and finish. It can accommodate up to 400LBS. It's accuracy is purported to be within .02lbs, which appears to be accurate, and IMO puts it in the high end scale category. The scale is digital and features large 3", easy to read blue numbers for your weight. All but the blindest should be able to read their weight without glasses. The scale turns on easily and quickly with a tap of your foot, and turns itself off about 5 seconds after weighing.Unfortunately, like the other reviewer pointed out, don't buy this unit for the weight tracker function. It either doesn't work, or the instructions are wrong. I would think it wouldn't be hard to figure it out just tinkering with it, but apparently it is.Personally, I bought the scale for its looks, accuracy and easy to read numbers, so the weight tracker function was unimportant to me. Still, I don't like the idea that one of it's major features doesn't appear to work as advertised.

Good at first, but overall not thrilled.

I've had this scale for 3 years (black equivalent). The first few months it did a decent job and I was happy with it. However, after that it's steadily gone downhill. On average I have to stand on it at least 4 times before I get a repeat weight. I have had to stand on it 10 times on more than one occasion to get a consistent number. It's also fairly cheaply made. I hesitate to step on it for fear of breaking it, and I'm of average weight. I've only had to change the battery once, which is a plus.

Short Battery Life

The scale works fine and appears to be accurate in that it is with consistent with itself. It takes a 3v wafer battery, however, and with daily weigh-ins, it lasts less than 2 weeks.

Didn't Work

Although I loved the design, it didn't measure anything (body fat, water, muscle) it only weighed you. You could change it to kilos or stones in the back, but it didn't do what it said it would. So I called, the man was very nice and said it was a possibility that this particular model could have been defective! Meaning the whole line! He said he would get back to me in a couple days. He never did, instead I got an email saying the product was defective and so I had to return it. Would've loved to keep it, but I guess they made it wrong!

Very Sensitive to Floor Contours

Both the reviewer who loved this scale and the one who said it was highly inconsistent are right.I've had this scale for about two weeks and have done a lot of experimenting with it. Some days it seems to give me perfectly consistent readings, varying only by 0.2 pounds in either direction. Other days, I can weigh myself six times and get six different answers covering a range of about a pound.What I've found is that the scale is extremely sensitive to the countour of the floor beneath it. Because it uses only a single load cell, located near the geometric center of the underside of the scale, it makes a huge difference whether the floor beneath it is perfectly flat or not. An uneven floor can cause tipping, put more of your weight on one side than on the other, or give a low reading if the load cell itself happens to fall into a small "valley" between higher ridges that could support the outer edges of the scale.If you use the scale on a carpeted floor, all bets are off! A hard, flat, bare floor works the best.By moving the scale around to different places in my bathroom, I was finally able to get reasonable and consistent readings. Finding that exact same spot again every morning isn't always easy, though.It also makes a difference where you stand on the scale, especially if your floors (like mine) are old and "bumpy".So, yes, the scale itself is as accurate as the manufacturer claims. But no, you might not get that kind of accuracy from it if you don't have a flat enough floor to use it on.

Great Value

This is a great portable scale. It is accurate to the half pound. It is easy to store thanks to its convenient handle, and doesn't seem to have any problem with being moved around, exposure to water, or dropped. I have had it for a while and it still measures just as accurately as when I opened the box. In addition this scale comes with a lifetime lithium battery. This is a nice feature so that you don't have to spend money on batteries. Overall a great value.

Great Value for the Money

I'm a devoted Weight Watchers fan and attend the meetings every week. I've lost 50 pounds in a year and have about another 30 left to go. This scale is very accurate, and it matches my weight at Weight Watchers every week.However, make sure you stand in the same spot everytime you weight yourself. You will get slightly different readings if you stand on the front, middle and back of the scale. Also, if you have multiple people using it, make sure to set it for the personalized sessions. In my house, my mom dad and also use it, and since we are all around the same weight the scale sometimes gets "confused" and we have to hit the reset key on it.Overall we love the scale and would definetly recommend it.
